10 Funny incidents from TRAFFIC that might have happened or not!

With TRAFFIC 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale underway, now it’s the time to remember 10 funny incidents that might have happened at previous TRAFFIC events! 😀

TRAFFIC 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale opens up!

  • In 2004, in Delray Beach, FL: TRAFFIC partner, Howard Neu, was cast for a rendition of ‘Platoon’ and showed up in Vietnam-era fatigues. He took no prisoners at the auction.
  • In 2005, in Las Vegas, NV: Rick Schwartz broke his own “no gambling” rule and won $450,000 dollars at the blackjack table, which he later invested in real estate.
  • In 2006, in Santa Clara, CA: Ammar Kubba of TrafficZ appeared for the last time without his now trademark shaved head.
  • In 2007, in Las Vegas, NV: Michael Bahlitzanakis of City.com won the award for the hardest to pronounce domainer name. He still retains that title.
  • In 2008, in Orlando, FL: Andrew Allemann of Domain Name Wire was mistaken for his doppelganger, Ted Olson of NameMedia, a minimum of 455 times during the event. For those of you that still confuse the two, Ted is taller – but not as tall as then Sedo executive, Matt Bentley.
  • That same year, it was the last time that Rob Grant was more famous than his daughter Elizabeth, or Lana Del Rey as she’s now known.
  • In 2009, in New York City, NY: Chef Patrick baked a giant cake for Rick Schwartz, who had just sold Candy.com for a few cool millions.
  • In 2010, in Las Vegas, NV: Event manager, Rick Latona sold hundreds of gold watches during the recess of the domain auction; the biggest non-domain sale of the decade.
  • In 2011, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL: Michael Gilmour of ParkLogic, racked an official 1,000,000 frequent flyer miles during his latest flight from Australia.
  • That same year, Sedo celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a photo cake bearing the overly pixelated image of Helga-Alice von Susteren.

Onto TRAFFIC 2012! 😀
