ABC News story sends forum traffic skyrocketing

An ABC News story about a man who successfully grew six inches in height through surgery, sent a web site’s traffic to skyrocket.

The story about “Apotheosis” – an anonymous New York man who underwent several leg lengthening surgical procedures involving breaking of his legs – is a prelude to a televised show that will air at 10:00 PM Eastern tonight.

In the article, “Apotheosis” is mentioned alongside online forum MakeMeTaller.org – a web site that is frequented by people wanting to gain height via surgery.

Obviously, the mere linking to the web site has caused its traffic to “explode”, according to its administrator:

“The Make Me Taller forum is mentioned in an article about leg lengthening that is on the front page of Yahoo! right now. This is the one where they interview Apotheosis and is a teaser for the TV program about it airing at 10PM on ABC tonight. As might be expected, traffic to this website has exploded this morning as people read the article and come here curious about LL.”

The reference to “LL” is apparently “Leg Lengthening”. At the time of writing this article, LegLengthening.net is available, according to top WHOIS tool DomainTools.

It will be interesting to see how many people will visit MakeMeTaller.com instead of the .org, when the show airs on ABC tonight 😀
