Can you hear me now? Vodafone reaches deep into Iran in UDRP

Consuela LLC is now tagged as a "reverse domain name hijacker."

UDRP law applies in Iran as well.

Vodafone is one of the largest providers of cellular connectivity in Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as covering a large part of the Middle East.

Enforcement of its brand protection is clearly a priority, as Vodafone reached deep into Iran and filed a UDRP for the domain name, Vodafone.ir.

In the recent past, IRNIC, the Iranian authority for domain names, promptly complied with similar domain decisions at the WIPO.

The domain name Vodafone.ir was used in the past to forward to the domain Hotexhibition.com according to information provided by Archive.org. It was also parked at Sedo with a “For sale” note.

It comes as no surprise that the WIPO panelist, Michael J. Spence, decided on behalf of the Complainant; all while the Respondent never filed a response.
