Chinese domain market report : Another geo-domain in China has been sold

Chinese domain market report.

Chinese domain market report.

The Chinese domain market is on fire, all while China’s economy is doing not so well.

A year ago, many investors switched from stocks to digital commodities, such as Bitcoin and domain names, thanks to a massive crash of the Chinese stock market.

This move allowed China’s entrepreneurs to siphon out funds at will, investing in long-tail numeric domains and domain “Chips” that never get developed.

Westerners who figured out this trend, sold numeric domains and chips en masse to the Chinese. Some say this is the equivalent of gifting glass beads, but who are we to judge?

We keep track of the Chinese domain market‘s particulars, and we focus on domains that change hands in China, between 2 to 4 characters in length, in the .CN, .COM and .NET TLDs.

Sometimes we track important geo-domains as well, and yet another province of China has been sold in .com.

Huadong is a loosely defined region in East China, and now Huadong.com is the 5th Chinese province domain that has changed hands, following several others.

Today’s list contains a healthy number of “Chips” in the .CN TLD.
