Corporate domain movers Part 2: Cracker.com, iRetire.com and more!

Jamie of dotWeekly digs domain data daily; quite often, corporate acquisitions of domain names go unreported.

These domains often become brands, products or services by many large companies, and this report could provide an early insight.

This is part 2 of a list of domains compiled by Jamie, and it’s being reported for the first time, exclusively for DomainGang:

Teori.com has been acquired by Hagberg Media AB from TradeNames.com for a currently unknown amount. The transaction appears to have taken place about 12/8/2014.

WhatsInMyFood.com has been sold by HugeDomains.com. The domain had a $1,795 listing price and was registered 9/27/2011. The company who purchased it is currently unknown.

FuelingValue.com has been registered by a Jones Lang LaSalle, which is a real estate services firm specializing in commercial property management, leasing, and investment management.

Biogen Idec has registered the domain names SmartTomorrow.net, .org and .info . They do not own the .com, at least as of yet! They also registered a couple other variations with a single T like Smartomorrow.

Cracker.com has been acquired by Ad Tech B.V. Cracker.com was registered in 1995 and was listed for sale at Sedo but I’m unsure if the transaction took place at Sedo. What a great domain!

365Fun.com has been acquired from BuyDomains.com for $2,880 by a currently unknown SafeNames client. The domain name was registered in 2004.

Avila.com may been acquired by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client. The domain name was owned by Barcelona.com, Inc. prior and has transferred to MarkMonitor but under the whois of DNStination Inc. One thing that is a little “odd” is the domain name servers have remained the same and still contain the Barcelona.com name servers but I still think this domain has likely changed ownership.

GCMS.com has been purchased by Thermo Fisher Scientific. The transaction took place on 9/10/2014 using the secret buyer “admin@bighornconsultants.com” (markmonitor) and transferred to Dynadot. The domain has now transferred to the MarkMonitor registrar.

iRetire.com has been acquired by BlackRock Financial Management Inc. and the domain name was owned by Marchex Sales Inc. Again, Marchex does not sell its domain names “cheap”. The transaction likely took place about 8/1/2014 when the domain went into privacy protection at Network Solutions Inc. As of 2/12/2015 Blackrock is displayed in whois.

Homescape.com has transferred to GoDaddy.com. The domain was owned by HomeFinder.com and it still redirects to HomeFinder.com but it’s a little odd to see the transfer and movement to privacy protection, so something is happening with the domain.

Mosa.com has been acquired by KONINKLIJKE MOSA B.V. for an undisclosed amount. The domain was owned by the company Vans Inc prior, which owns popular brands like Wrangler, Lee, Eastpak, Timberland and The North Face to mention a few.
