Did your great-grandmother survive the RMS Titanic?

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic – the “unsinkable” cruise liner that hit an iceberg and sank on its virgin voyage.

Many have published partial lists of the 1,514 people that perished on that cold April night, but now Ancestry.com – the web site dedicated to genealogy – is publishing the most complete records yet.

According to a press release from Ancestry.com:

“The Titanic Collection can be found at www.ancestry.com/titanic, and includes thousands of Titanic-related records comprised of passenger lists, crew lists and lists of deaths at sea. These important records tell the story of more than 2,200 people that were travelling on the Titanic from Southampton, England towards New York. Tragically, the ocean liner struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sunk within hours, sending more than 1,500 people to their deaths.”

If you’re not convinced by the story about how your great-grandmother was indeed on the RMS Titanic and survived, here is your chance to search and find out! 😀
