DNForum is now back online

DNForum is back online, after more than 3 months of downtime.

Adam Dicker, owner of DNForum, announced his intention to revive the aging domain forum, by taking it live on June 1st.

Instead, the forum went live today, at DNForum.com.

A poll among domain investors about whether they’d revisit DNForum once it went back online, was overwhelmingly against, with 238 voting NO and 69 voting YES.

Nope… it redirects to a Sedo parking page..

  2. DomainGang says:

Niz – Definitely live, but if you visited the recent Sedo parked page that’s the culprit. Flush your DNS : https://www.google.com/search?q=flush+your+dns

  3. Kris says:

I would assume it is back online, in order for it’s sale to another party.

Interesting to see who his advertisers are.

“Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”

You’re playing right into his publicity scheme. 🙁
He still owes money to people who I know. That’s what we should be drawing attention to. Until he makes right on his debts, no one should be helping him gain an audience of new potential victims.
Most of us don’t care if DnForum is up, down, sideways, or sold. Your poll showed that.

What we do care about and what I’m most concerned about is DnForum allowing newbies to be preyed upon again. Drawing attention to it is making that more likely, unfortunately.

Today is a sad day for us all.

Aubrey – We cover domain industry news and this is newsworthy by all means, whether you like to read about DNForum or not. How else do you expect people to know what’s going on?

Did you personally lose money? Then share your story.

Actually there are only 299,999 active users, because I refuse to visit the site again.

Adam needs to update that number.

    Don

  9. Bram says:

    @ Don W.
There are maybe 300,000 members but most of those sure aren’t active.

I tried to delete my dnforum account a while ago and noticed I couldn’t. I looked at their TOS and this is what I found:

“Generally speaking, DNForum does not delete accounts. Accounts are lifetime memberships. If you wish to leave the forum, your account will remain. All existing posts and feedback will remain associated with the account. You may update your user title and signature to identify that you have left the forums, have clocked out, or that you are taking a hiatus from the business, etc. In the case where members are banned, the account will remain with the posts and feedback as well.”

In other words it doesn’t matter if almost nobody uses dnforum anymore, Dicker will still use the “300,000” user database as a sales pitch to to make his forum look popular . Seems like a popular marketing strategy lately to make numbers, and not actual usage, an indicator of popularity.
