Domain offers from Iran and Pakistan: When a bad apple ruins the bunch!

Mass mailings about dropping domains amount to spam.

Spam hitting DNS servers is blocked.

After noticing an automatic response email being sent out for a domain parked at Domain Name Sales, we took a closer look at our account settings.

Nope, automatic responses are disabled, so what triggered that email going out?

For the record, the email triggered this message: “The inquirer’s email address is invalid or has bounced.

Always helpful, Jeff Gabriel, VP of Sales at DNS responded to our ticket thus:

“You hit the nail on the head twice with good questions this week. There are a handful of IPs from countries like Iran, Pakistan etc. that send massive amounts of spam so we blocked them, but still auto respond just in case it is legit. Nothing good there.”

It’s unfortunate that although there are some potentially valid inquiries for domains from countries in the broader region of the middle east and Asia, some IP ranges are blocked due to “a few bad apples” that engage in spamming.

Domain Name Sales does try to engage with these inquiries, and as seen from our bounced email, they have good reasons to block them.
