Dubai domainer gets 100 lashes for offensive domain

Samir al Bahreim is a 27 year old entrepreneur and futures investor from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

As any smart investor, Samir diversifies his investments, ranging from keyword domain names to traffic money generators.

Having studied in London, UK, Samir considers himself a citizen of the world.

“I love my country, praise Allah, and I think we can all co-exist and generate profit for our families first, God willing” says Samir, his finger pointing towards the ceiling.

“But I am shocked when backwards thinking officials can keep us in the dark ages, I repeat, the dark ages!” exclaims Samir.

His latest endeavor into the world of religious domains, recently proved to be quite adventurous; Samir was detained by the Dubai police and was given 100 lashes, for registering a .com domain that disrespected the Prophet.

“I did it to protect the name of the Prophet from being misused by the infidels,” says Samir. “Just forgot to change the settings automatically set for all of my other domains, and it pointed to Sedo.” says Samir.

Apparently, a lot of irate faithful visitors were upset that the ads displayed on the domain name of the Prophet, were mostly of adult nature, particularly lesbian and sadomasochistic content.

Samir accepted his punishment of 100 lashes with stoicism.

“It’s the will of Allah, that I was punished. Harshly, yes, by human standards. But who are we to judge His will, we are simply surrendered to accept fate.” he added.

It will be a while before Samir registers any more domains, he states, and definitely nothing related to religion or pornography.
