The Emirate of Dujiia, a small (population 1,200) emirate in the Persian Gulf, became the newest nation in the world in 2010.

Unfortunately, the 21st century appears to conflict with the traditions and prohibitions that the Bedouins of Dujiia observe.

According to Al Jizzera News, the first beheading of 2012 was that of Ahmet Al Muhwaoui – a local entrepreneur domainer who studied systems analysis in Dubai.

Although beheadings are reserved for serious crimes, such as fornication, grand theft and eating pork, the execution by sword of Ahmet Al Muhwaoui commenced due to his introduction of dot .com registrations to the small emirate.

Apparently, the law only allows for the local ccTLD as the only domain extension; any deviation is punishable by death.

There was no official report about a formal trial, however, it is customary for the chief of the local police to charge, try and sentence any suspect of a crime within 24 hours.

Ahmet Al Muhwaoui was considered by many experts in the Middle East as a pioneer in cross-platform communications and a supporter of ICANN’s new gTLDs.
