Eyjafjallajokull – A tongue-twister glacier not worthy of its own .com

Eyjafjallajokull is one of the smallest glaciers of Iceland, a country where happy people enjoy hot spring baths in the heart of Arctic winter.

Apparently, the volcano on top of the Eyjafjallajokull glacier has just erupted and hundreds of Icelanders are being evacuated.

Eyjafjallajokull does not have a .com registered in its name.

No wonder why, the name is not only hard to write, it’s also impossible to pronounce.

However, we’ve seen worse in the past, so don’t hold your breath that it will remain unregistered!

Well Eyjaf.com is available in case the Icelanders wake up one day and discover abbreviations and nicknames.

Well, Eyjafjallajokull means “Island mountain glacier” so trimming it down to Eyjaf would strip the meaning off 😉
