Facebook bans all URLs from its photo posting system

Mark-Zuckerberg-507402-1-402If you’re used to posting your selfies on Facebook with a URL on the image, think again: You might get banned if you add your domain name to a photo.

“The days of duckface selfies with a meme that contained a URL are long gone,” said founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

“We are rolling out Facebook 2.0 as a destination that users will enjoy, without having to jump out of Facebook to the slums of the Internet called the web,” added Zuckerberg.

Hundreds of millions of Facebook users will now be constrained to using Facebook without any URLs or references to them, in order to ensure that the younger generation of Internet users never hears the words ‘browser’, ‘web’, ‘www’ or ‘Netscape.’

“It needs to be done, domain names outside of Facebook do not belong on the Internet,” said Mark Zuckerberg, smiling.

While extraordinary, this action is apparently necessary, in order to eliminate any remaining bond between Facebook and the ‘old school‘ Internet of domain names.
