Father Domainicus: Brotherly tips for a new domainer

Domain hints and tips with Father Domainicus.

Greetings, my brothers and sisters in domaining.

This is Father Domainicus and I have an important message, this very first day of summer.

Many newcomers to domaining aren’t certain about which way to go.

Like with every other industry, direction is provided in many variations. In other words, there are good directions and bad directions.

And that, my domaining children, can make or break a newbie domainer; it can cut its very soul to numerous pieces, forever hurting its will and ego – forever destroying their ability to consummate the domainer’s marriage to the Holy Church of Domaining!

Where was I?

Sometimes, I get carried away by charisma and the Word of our Domain Lord.

So I will now gather my thoughts and share with you some tips.

  • When registering domain names, be sober. Nothing hurts more than reg fee wasted on alcohol and useless domains.
  • Stay faithful to the original three TLDs. So what if ICANN rolls out 1,930 new gTLDs, the com/net/org will always be better than anything else.
  • When offered money for one of your domains, remember: unless you ask for more, you won’t get a penny more. Remember to donate a percentage of your profits to those in need.
  • If someone talks down about your domains, ignore them. The sweetest revenge is an eventual sale that will make it to the DNJournal listings a few weeks later.
  • Don’t be afraid to reach out to the big guys of Domaining, when you have the opportunity to socialize with them. Domain conferences are the ultimate ticket to the veteran domainers’ thought process; sometimes, to their wallet as well.

I now leave you with a brotherly hug and a kiss on both cheeks; may the Domain Lord bless your every step.
