FlyWithDignity.com – Fighting the airport ‘porn-scanners’

Members of the 'Piraten Partei' walk through Berlin-Tegel airport, undressed to protest the violation of civil rights.

A lot has changed after the 9/11/2001 events with regards to airport security.

On top of stricter regulations to what can be carried on board, the methods of delivering a more secure flight has changed interpersonal behaviors between airport employees and travelers.

In the US, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been rolling out advanced imaging technology machines that use two separate means of creating images of passengers – backscatter X-ray technology and millimeter-wave technology.

While the TSA says the machines are safe, backscatter technology raises concerns among some because it uses small doses of ionizing radiation. The use of millimeter-wave technology hasn’t received the same attention and radiation experts say it poses no known health risks.

The technology as applied to human scanning is very new and no comprehensive research has been conducted.

On top of this, the TSA has been accused of “man-handling” passengers, going beyond the scope of a “pat down” – in what has been cited as “Operation Grab Ass“. TSA employees aren’t exactly prude with their body searches, and while a person can refuse the process the end result will be a no-fly order for the person who acts in civil disobedience.

If your cute girlfriend is packing, the TSA wants to know (fake image).

FlyWithDignity.com is a brand new web site that attempts to unite the voice of travelers that have been exposed to various degrees of violation by the TSA in the United States, and those that oppose the gradual loss of rights to the government:

We are not a politically motivated organization, nor have affiliation with any charities or other groups. We are a literal form of grass-roots, and intend to not make this a matter of politics of special interests. What matters here is the preservation of our civil liberties and protection of our rights when visiting public establishments.

An incident involving the TSA’s practices and how one can protest and refuse the invasive process has been detailed at this blog. The article describes the incident and contains video recorded during the process. It is an alarming situation about the disappearance of civil liberties in the US and worldwide.

  1. On my way into the US recently from Europe, TSA wanted to subject me to a scan, which I basically objected to as i was carrying a ceramic Uzi submachine gun under my overweight tummy. After making a loud racket, swearing in German, Polish and Russian, I was let through, on my way to an assassination assignment

I think this x-ray crap is a total disregard for American rights. No! Human Rights! I guess I’ll never fly again. I won’t go through your cancer box and I most certainly am not going to let some piece of shit put their hands on my privates. Anyone who has ever been sexually abused or raped would agree that this is just a bit too personal. Keep your freaking hands of me! And keep your freaking planes. I’ll drive bitches. I watched the fondling going on on the news, it was disgusting watching someone totally fondle a woman’s breasts. So what if it’s a woman searching the woman or man searching the man? Haven’t you heard of lesbians, gays? No poking shots at those groups but there are insane straight people so gay people are also capable of the same acts.
