Frank Schilling’s .xxx Domain Investment – Is the man with a plan in danger?

Frank Schilling’s acquisition of premium adult domain names in the .xxx TLD shocked many.

The investment is a sizable one; well into the 7 figures and in accordance with the ICM Registry’s Founders Program.

In other words, Frankie got a large chunk of the adult pie by offering a good chunk of money.

Fair enough.

Frank Schilling’s logic behind this investment is primarily based on his analysis that a lot of people believed for years that an .xxx TLD actually existed!

But surely not everyone thinks the same; plenty have been tagging “xxx.com” to adult domains for years.

We decided to run an experiment on the list of 33 premium .xxx domains acquired by Frank and substituted the .xxx for “xxx.com”

Twenty domains off that list existed before 2000, as early as 1995!

This means that they are potentially established web sites with traction and traffic that cannot possibly leak over to the .xxx – unless the ICM Registry promotes the new TLD aggressively to the average Joe Porn Masturbator 😀

rather than crating new extensions to increase revenue… perhaps icaan should consider adding some new letters to the alphabet.
