GoDaddy, Go! Bob Parsons does some aggressive marketing

Bob Parsons is a legendary business man.

These days it’s not enough to be the world’s largest registrar, you have to act upon it.

Legendary GoDaddy CEO, Bob Parsons, is known for his entourage of buxom – most surgically enhanced – female debutants, that promote the GoDaddy image during the course of the year, not just during the Super Bowl.

With 40 million domains in his registrar database, GoDaddy is always seeking more methods to monetize this lucrative crowd.

Recently, callers of GoDaddy’s support center have witnessed an increased waiting time, during which commercials and inquiries about additional services are being offered.

GoDaddy wants you badly.

For every minute spent talking to a support technician, three additional minutes are sales pitches!

One of our domainer readers, Frank Porssum, called GoDaddy to tweak some settings and sure enough he was bombarded with questions:

  • “Frank, your account has a lot of expiring domains – are you sure you don’t want to renew them all right now?”
  • “Frank, I can assist you register the best domains of your life, today!”
  • “Frank, we offer high quality web hosting services that will help you promote your domains so much more – would you like to sign up with our hosting service?”
  • “Frank, how about signing up for our extraordinary reseller program?”
  • “Frank, we offer a domain discount club, do you want to sign up?”

After Frank’s final refusal to all of these inquiries, Bob Parsons himself got on the phone and tried to convince Frank not to refuse the “GoDaddy Experience“.

Bob was polite and friendly, telling Frank that they can be buddies and share Bud Lights and trips with Bob’s entourage of GoDaddy Girls, using Bob’s super cool bikes.

Frank refused, once more. Finally, after 25 minutes on the phone his issue was taken care of, without as much as a single added service.

“I feel so damn exhausted after this hardcore sales pitch at GoDaddy”, said Frank. “It was a non-stop barrage of sales offers. Next time they offer me something, it’d better be free!!!”
