Google getting ready to Crush Groupon

Google Offers - launching in several test markets!

Those of you that have been smoking the Groupon pipe – get ready for the shocking news.

The mass-discount provider is often cited in numerous complaints about the long-term ability of its advertisers to offer products and services cheaply.

War is on!

Groupon announced yesterday that they have hired former Google executive, Margo Georgiadis, who most recently served as Google’s vice president of global sales operations.

Google isn’t sweating much though, as it has launched Google Offers – in beta – in select markets.

These markets include Oakland/East Bay and San Francisco in California, Portland, Oregon and Uptown, Downtown and Midtown Manhattan.

Google is about to crush Groupon with Google Offers, as they have a huge advantage: data on the search habits and locations of millions of Google users.

Instead of paying billions of dollars to acquire Groupon – that foolishly rejected a $6 billion dollar offer by Google – the Internet search engine behemoth will simply build its own service.

Moral of the story: when you receive a great offer, don’t piss on it 😀

    Groupon aka Greedy-porn

You and I are getting paid by google adsense, what does groupon give me? NOTHING

Just because an established company decided to go into a new area does not make them an automatic success. Does matter if it is google, microsoft, or IBM. Unless it is Apple. Then I would be fareful if I am coupon. 🙂

I love my iPhone even if it self correct groupon to coupon.

Groupon’s business model is so simple that barriers to entry are virtually nothing… how about a Facebook type of Groupon, you can share it with all your friends… Facebook will dominate both if it comes into the market.

Groupon IPO is going to be a joke, if the thing is valued at $20B I will be buying put options for 1 year out and waiting at the window to cash my ticket in 365 days.

No kidding. 6 Billion pissed away. Soon they’ll be GroupOff.com and still be acquired, in demise, for meager millions. Some applauded the rejection of Google as if Groupon had a patent on the service they were providing.

You hit it on the head, with all the data google collects, the web, apps, android, earth, street view, etc. we’ll be bargaining for everything from surgeries to extra trash collection dates on our block real soon.
