ICANN gTLD data: Be patient, it’s coming!

The world is watching in agony as the zone data for dozens of gTLDs remained offline for the second day today due to an apparently persistent “glitch“.

Oops! There's a glitch in the Estibot parser.

Oops! There’s a glitch at the ICANN gTLD zone files!

For many new gTLD registries, these numbers are necessary in order to display activity outside of their own circle, and when these numbers are missing there is no public indication of activity.

Simple as that.

Meanwhile, an update notification arrived from ICANN earlier tonight:

As we notified you previously, the Centralized Zone Data System (CZDS) is temporarily offline while ICANN investigates a technical issue with the system software.

We discovered the root cause of the issue. Several solutions to the problem have been identified and we are moving quickly to evaluate the best course of action.

An update on system status will be posted by 23:59 UTC on 02 May 2014.

Thank you for your continued patience

Hopefully the system is now getting back to normal – unless things are becoming problematic. We shall have more information tomorrow, so sit tight.
