‘Is my web site down’ moving to .ME

Dot .ME appears to be quite popular these days.

A couple of months ago we discussed how due to the recent repossession of domains by the Department of Homeland Security, certain domain ‘outfits’ are moving away from .com

Web sites such as Demonoid, for example, have opted for .ME – the Montenegrin TLD – as their new location.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that only domains that host borderline illegal activities are moving.

Others begin to use alternative TLDs due to the availability of short URLs.

One such example is the popular ‘Down For Everyone Or Just Me?’

Good luck typing the URL downforeveryoneorjustme.com each and every time; so they registered isup.me instead. You can use that service to check whether a web site is globally down or it’s just your ISP’s temporary hiccup.

So more power to you, by using .ME 😀

I likie your blog so don’t worry about the mass demonstration outside your house that those people want you to go into exile.

As long as you don’t blow too much hot air, your job is safe.
