Lady Gaga – Creative Advertising of PlentyOfFish.com

Lady Gaga calls it a hit again with her new video, Telephone.

Lady Gaga’s new song and assorted video clip, “Telephone” is causing some major stir and it’s not just on the dance floor.

Known for her fiery and unconventional approach to music, Lady Gaga delivers yet another trash masterpiece, with visuals that accompany the song in an amusing and entertaining way.

That’s what Lady Gaga is all about – love her or hate her.

What makes the video stand out, is the creative appearance of various known brands into the plot, including at least one domain name.

In a nutshell, Lady Gaga and Beyonce star in a “B Movie” video about “revenge” just under 10 minutes long, which combines elements from Thelma and Louise – only the vehicle of choice appears to be the notorious “Pussy Wagon” from the movie Kill Bill.

Brilliant. But wait, there’s more!

In the opening scene at the prison, Lady Gaga flaunts a Virgin Mobile cellphone. She later on wears hair rollers made out of Diet Coke cans. And here comes the best part.

This is no red herring, it was probably the most brilliant ad for a web site ever to appear on a popular singer’s videoclip!

Both Lady Gaga and Beyonce bite on a HoneyBun; after that, they’re done eating some obscure “breasted” chicken sandwich with a brand that eludes me. Oh well.

It could have been the perfect ad for the domain Poison.tv

Inside a restaurant where the dancing duo takes their revenge, they prepare poisoned sandwiches with Wonderbread and Miracle Whip. Yummy.

The scene includes the spoofing of a cooking channel, appropriately called “Poison TV”.

I just had to check Poison.tv and it’s for sale by eNom’s own squatting squad. Figures!

Finally, they take pictures with a Polaroid camera and there is a radio announcement for a radio station (sounds like Kay-UK).

Television coverage of their restaurant crime by a supposedly American TV channel, WNS News, oddly displays Swedish scrolling text at the bottom of the screen; apparently an inner joke between the graphic and video artists that are both Swedish.

Overall, a funky, catchy video with some really interesting advertising ideas thrown in as well. Go watch it!
