Love for sale: Cupid.com and WikiLeaks

Julian Assange and his dating profile on OKCupid.com caused a lot of trouble.

As Mike Berkens posted earlier today, the domain name Cupid.com was acquired by the Easy Date Group – a UK dating service – for roughly $7 million dollars.

The domain name Cupid.com is a remarkable acquisition, in the sense that it’s the name of the winged Roman god of love.

Meanwhile, scandal-hounding WikiLeaks operator Julian Assange was released on bail in the UK, pending trial on charges of sexual assault in Sweden.

It has been announced that the sexual encounters of Julian Assange were the results of a dating spree he went on, in 2006. The dating web site was apparently OkCupid.com – a free dating web site.

According to the Frugal Brutal Beauty blog, Julian Assange’s dating profile on OKCupid.com reads as follows (registration needed):

WARNING: Want a regular, down to earth guy? Keep moving. I am not the droid you’re looking for. Save us both while you still can.

Passionate, and often pig headed activist intellectual seeks siren for love affair, children and occasional criminal conspiracy.

Such a woman should spirited and playful, of high intelligence, though not necessarily formally educated, have spunk, class & inner strength and be able to think strategically about the world and the people she cares about.

I like women from countries that have sustained political turmoil. Western culture seems to forge women that are valueless and inane. OK. Not only women!

Although I am pretty intellectually and physically pugnacious I am very protective of women and children.

Looks like the table has been turned and Julian Assange’s own life is being leaked, drop by drop on the Internet.

We’ll have to wait and see what will occur to OKCupid.com now that the Easy Date Group spent $7 Big Ones to acquire Cupid.com
