The current shifting of the Earth’s magnetic pole has caused some to examine the skies and seek answers.
But although astronomers and astrologers don’t quite share the same profession, there is something else out there, in the twilight zone.
Ophiuchus – the 13th sign of the zodiac.
That’s right, who needs an encyclopaedia when you can use twitter to spread rumors around! In fact, Ophiuchus is not recognized as an official sign of the zodiac at all.
All the hair-pulling tweets by those that were born between November 29 and December 17 and who – supposedly – should belong to the Ophiuchus sign, is just hogwash.
Ophiuchus – or Οφιούχος in Greek – means “snake holder” or “serpent bearer”.
It’s also the name of a constellation, whose name was given from the Greek mythological representation of Asclepius, the father of modern medicine.
The tendency of Internet users to tag the “.com” at the end of any word, is probably generating a nice traffic spike for the domain name Ophiuchus.com
We contacted its owner, Art, with a few questions. Art owns the domain name Ophiuchus.com since 1995 – the early days of the commercial Internet. He was very kind to respond, answering our questions.
In a nutshell:
- Ophiuchus.com is being used by its owner as a personal communication tool – which means, primarily for email purposes.
- There have been no serious offers to buy the domain and currently Art has no plans to sell it.
- Art “jokes” about how difficult it is to spell – let alone, pronounce – Ophiuchus.com and doubts its value, despite the current trend in Google searches and tweets.
- The Greek myth of Ophiuchus and its namesake constellation and shape are the main reasons why Art likes the domain and wants to keep it.
- Any future use is considered – but using it to display zodiac information and horoscopes? Highly unlikely, says Art.
