Apparently the holder of the domain name Tillikum.com registered it with the intention to resell it. As the web site mentions:
Tillikum.com is for sale. Tillikum is the Pacific Northwest word for people and relatives. It’s the perfect name for a family, group, or community web site – short, easy to remember and meaningful. Asking $25,000.
Unfortunately for the owner of Tillikum.com, a killer whale at SeaWorld in Orlando by the name of “Tillikum” violently shook and killed a female trainer.
The name Tillikum is thus as of now, tainted, as it’s associated with a violent event that has cost the life of a trainer. It is unknown whether the whale itself will be spared or if it will be terminated, as it’s the second time that it has killed a human.

A previous trainer and some guy who broke into another park and wanted to swim with the fishes….
This is the KILLER whales third victim and actually had attacked this trainer previously….
Willis, thanks for the heads up. The CNN article mentioned only one previous killing by the same whale.
It’s unfortunate this happened but the whale can’t be released from captivity and that’s the price to pay for raising an animal for entertainment purposes.
This animal should not be euthanized. It’s not like a 12 ton killer whale applied for a job as a entertainer at SeaWorld and then killed someone. However, I’ve read that the main value behind Tilikum is that he is a great breeder . That is what he should do for the rest of his life and never interact with trainers again.
David, wild animals can never be domesticated or trained. It’s sad that Tillikum killed, several times no less. Many people seem to forget that animals don’t exist for our entertainment. Not to mention that we kill and eat so many of them.
It’s important for people to know that one of these animals killed itself by continuously ramming its head against the side of the pool. As big as these pools are they are like being permanently confined to a large living room for these massive creatures. They are highly intelligent and can snap at any time.
