Rick Schwartz knew better: BP disaster far from over

A lot of environment-conscious Americans rejoiced when the notorious BP spill got plugged, after nearly three months of non-stop oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico.

It was also a time that many domainers seized the opportunity to register various domains related to the disaster, or related to BP – the oil giant behind this oil catastrophe.

Rick Schwartz was open about his domain registrations related to the oil spill; some of Rick’s domains reputedly made $$$ from the very beginning, as a result of search engine activity and type-ins related to the BP oil spill.

A partial list of Rick’s domains includes the following:

bpspill.com
oilspillingulf.com
gulfspill.com
bpoilspill.org
gulfoilleak.com
bpspill.org
bpoilslick.com
gulfcoastoilcleanup.com
gulfoilcleanup.com
gulfoilleak.com
bplivefeed.com

Apparently, the tragic accident in the Gulf is far from over.

Scientists have uncovered that the majority of the oil has not dispersed into the ocean and has not been eaten up by microbes that feed on oil. Since it was prevented from washing ashore, the majority of the oil went where naturally heavier liquids and murk settle: at the bottom of the ocean floor.

Thus, as long as this environmental disaster continues to make headlines, more money will end up in the pockets of assertive domainers that were faster than BP, both at registering domains and at plugging the oil leak.

I had many high offers on the green domain name: GreenGulf.com since the gulf oil leak.
This environmental disaster will take 50 years to return as before if not more.

  2. BullS says:

Domainers are kinda of racists …do I see anybody registering domains relating to the flood in Pakistan?

Are they afraid that the Talibans will come to their doorsteps?

See…that tells you domainers are backstabbers, care about #1 and domain racist too….
    domainracists dot com is open

    LMAO

  3. Lucius "Guns" Fabrice says:

Nidal – that’s a great name, free from any disastrous references.

BullS – I would not call that being “racist”; it’s more about being selective which natural or man-made disaster one attempts to monetize.

  4. Mike says:

    @BullS: “racists”? Grab a dictionary.

Thanks to you and tens of millions of others in the world, the word “racist” has NO MORE MEANING to it. You’ve all diluted the meaning of the word down to nothing.

HAVING A PREFERENCE for one thing or another does NOT mean someone is “racist”, although today’s seemingly self-educated people would have others believe differently.

MY GOD. Or am I racist because I didnt use Yahweh or Allah? Please.

Mike – BullS was being sarcastic. Or at least, I hope so 😀

Look around Look around–who are the people that owns the most geo -generic domains. What business do they have to own domains like Iraq,Iran and those Muslim countries.
There should be a law that those domains should go to the govt of that countries so no one can abuse them or forward it to a porn site.
It will cause a war if Iraq dot com is a porn site.

No I am not being a sarcastic–I am dead serious.

While other people in those poor countries cannot afford to register the domains, you and the rest can throw around your money and gobble up those domains.

The cost of Domain registration should be in their own currency. If it costs you $10USD to register in US, then it should cost $10pesos in Mexico- equal the playing field.

I don’t know how those domainers can sleep when they gobble up those domains– they will go to Domain Hell.
