Social media marketing Rantic behind “Emma Watson You’re Next” web site

Emma Watson has nothing to be afraid of.

Emma Watson has nothing to be afraid of.

It was a hoax aimed at raising awareness against Internet abuse and bullying of women, including the recent celebrity photo leaks.

Social media marketing company Rantic, operating from Rantic.com, registered the domain name EmmaYouAreNext.com with eNom, on 9/21/2014.

Initially providing a count-down as a “threat” to a date after which there would be an exposé of personal photos of actress, Emma Watson, the web site currently forwards to Rantic.com, where it explains its purpose and goal.

” We have been hired by celebrity publicists to bring this disgusting issue to attention. The recent 4chan celebrity nude leaks in the past 2 months have been an invasion of privacy and is also clear indication that the internet NEEDS to be censored. Every Facebook like, share & Twitter mention will count as a social signature — and will be one step closer to shutting down www.4chan.org. “

Rantic.com claims that in 3 days, 48 million visitors, 7 million Facebook shares and 3 million mentions on Twitter are a good reason to push for “censorship on the Internet”. The web site urges visitors to EmmaYouAreNext.com to sign a petition aimed at Barack Obama.

Naturally, such censorship would never happen, but as a marketing effort, Rantic gets top ranks from us.

Update: Apparently Rantic is not a real marketing company, and they pulled off a double hoax as a stunt to shut down 4chan. Read update here.
