Domainers are used to bidding on auctions with the bids going up; the concept of a reverse or “dutch” auction is introduced with DNCountdown.com
Unlike normal auctions where people bid higher amounts against each other until the auction ends, a reverse auction starts with the highest price and that price reduces until somebody buys the item.
This means the first person to use the “buy it now” option wins the auction.
Once an auction starts, the price decreases every 10 minutes and the auction timer shows when the next price decrease will occur; the amount of the decrease depends on the initial asking price.

This method of domain auctioning is particularly appealing to sellers that list domains on forums and then decrease their asking price when no interest is shown; there’s always a proverbial “lurker” who grabs the domain as soon as the lowered price matches their budget.
DNCountdown.com is free to use and to bid one must first register. The DNCountdown auction platform displays comprehensive stats about the domains, when available.
