MSC.com, a premium three letter .com domain that seems to have been sitting at Sedo’s transfer service for quite some time, was saved from a UDRP.
Registered in 1993, MSC.com was challenged by MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company Holding S.A. of Geneva, Switzerland.
The Respondent and current owner, Paul Kocher, acquired it in December 2013 through a public auction conducted by Sedo.com. The Respondent paid EUR 35,000 – or approximately $48,000 dollars.
Because the WHOIS info wasn’t updated since then, Sedo is also named as the Respondent in this case, along with its legal counsel, Jeremiah Johnston.
Despite a valid trademark from the 1970s for the Complainant, the sole panelist, Warwick A. Rothnie, found no reason to transfer the domain over.
