A UDRP that was filed against the owner of the domain name Banksy.com, was dropped by the arbitrator at the WIPO, who issued a partial reimbursement of the UDRP fees.

While no details were revealed by the UDRP documents, the sleuths at The Register contacted the owner of the domain, who shared some shocking info.

It appears that the Complainant who presented themselves as “Banksy Inc.”, filing the UDRP under the famous artist’s name, was an impostor.

Banksy spokesperson, Jo Brooks, stated about her client’s case:

“The UDRP application was submitted by Banksyinc who claimed to be representing Pest Control but in fact were impostors. Banksyinc have now been forced to drop their UDRP application against Banksy.com.”

While this is great news for the Respondent in this case, there should be legal ramifications in this case.
