Vine porn: Six seconds of looping video and the .com

The launch of Vine.co last week as a repository of looping videos that can only last six seconds, attracted thousands of ‘content creators‘: yourself.

Anyone with a smart phone owns a camera, and using the app, they can now upload whatever they can fit in those six seconds.

Including, of course, porn.

Ah, porn, the driving force of the Internet!

While Al Gore might have had a different vision for his “Information Superhighway“, it’s not a secret that pornography propelled commercial Internet forward.

With .XXX being an officially adult gTLD, what other reinforcement does one need to accept the fact that porn runs the Net.

Back to Vine.co and its inclusion of x-rated content.

The app passes the responsibility of content onto the producer of the content, however, this already has landed hosting providers such as GoDaddy in hot waters.

Meanwhile, the registration of the domain VinePorn.com should come as no surprise. While Vine.co makes use of the trendy and startup-friendly .CO extension, the use of a .com is considered mandatory by many.

VinePorn.com is parked, for the time being – a seemingly wasteful attempt to capitalize on the Vine.co porn popularity.

After all, content is still king, whether on a .com or a secondary TLD.
