Weird Wednesday with Flippa

Trademark domains can cause a lot of headaches to even the most seasoned domainers!

A couple of days ago we received an email from a member of the Flippa.com staff.

The email was promoting two auctions on Flippa, for the domain names Better.com and TheBe.st

The message was personalized, in the sense that it included the whimsical statement:

“…as far as we can tell, there’s no trademark violation in either domain”

While it’s understandable that Flippa has been the recipient of a lot of heat from us, due to the various trademark violations allowed to be listed on the Australian domain and web site marketplace, this type of careless humor simply makes us search for more of the same.

A glorious example can be found at this listing, whereupon the seller is offering a Facebook trademark violation with the added bonus of a Google (Gmail) and a Twitter one.

Nice triple action!
