Zedo buys Sedo in a multi-billion dollar deal

In a surprise takeover move right before Christmas, advertising technology partner Zedo announced that they are buying Sedo for $14.5 billion dollars in cash. Yes, that’s billions.

Sedo and Zedo combine forces.

Zedo is headquartered in San Francisco and has four development centers in Russia and India. According to their web site:

[…] a digital ad solutions company that offers products and services for a publisher’s premium, self service, and remnant inventory. Products include ad network optimization, innovative rich media formats for publishers’ direct sales teams, full featured ad serving, behavioral targeting data built into the ad server, an exchange-like platform for publishers to sell behavioral and DMA targeted inventory at high CPMs.

The acquisition occurred right as the Sedo staff were at the company party, enjoying the festivities at the Boston office. Ludus Kanvas, chief developer at Sedo said:

“Whatever. We are still Sedo, not Zedo. Not even our German office with their Euro accent would call Sedo with a Zee. This is ridiculous, but whatever. I am on my 5th glass of champagne and I don’t give a f*ck.”

The acquisition of Sedo will be crucial in the mass expansion that Zedo plans to implement in the coming months, eventually targeting Google and Yahoo. Frank Ido of Zedo said:

“Strategic alliances work most of the time but acquisitions and mergers are the way to go in today’s corporate America. By absorbing Sedo at a price of just under $15 billion dollars we are saving a lot of our resources focusing on the next 25 to 45 years. We will become the biggest company in America and the world!”

More details should come out after the Christmas holiday is over and both Sedo and Zedo employees return to their respective offices, void of any alcohol intake.
