Domainer Comics : The End of the Internet era

Directnic

Welcome to another edition of Domainer Comics, the open-ended coverage of current domain industry events.

Sometimes, it’s about fun subjects, other times it’s about serious subjects.

Today, October 1st, 2016 marks the end of the Internet era as we know it.

Effective today, IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority responsible for the global coordination of the DNS Root, IP addressing, and other Internet protocol resources – is surrendering control of the Internet.

The United States of America, creators of the Internet, will no longer oversee key functions of it; that will be the task of a special ICANN group, that fought hard to end America’s stewardship of the Internet.

It’s a day of infamy, as Father Domainicus would say. The assimilation of the Internet by the serpent is complete. 🙁
