Money for nothing? Most domainers weary of .xxx

A recent DomainGang poll on .xxx domains shows that as much as 70% of domainers aren’t going to be registering any .xxx domains.

This is a side effect of being cautious with new, unproven TLDs – much more when they are adult-related and belonging to a niche market.

For example, when entire countries such as India and China look down on pornography and adult material, it’s easy to realize that one’s investment is immediately limited to audiences in westernized countries.

But even then there is no guarantee that traffic will convert into revenue as not everyone is open-minded!

    Absolutely not.

.xxx domains are going to be more valuable than .co domains guaranteed.

I feel that .XXX, while exciting, will unquestionably suffer the same fate as .name, .biz., ,mobi and .us. — all top level losers.

Assuming they do not own the .com equivalent, I question who would ever want to lay their website’s foundation on such murky quicksand that can go under t any moment?

If ever the .xxx ultimately goes under, what is going to happen to your website? Or, when the world filters you out? Or, when countries decide to exclude you? Or when browsers lock you out?

Would have been a really great idea, if enforced, 16 years ago. Too late now, the horse has already left the barn. No use closing the doors now.
