Wikipedia pulls out of GoDaddy

Despite the reversal of GoDaddy with regards to their support of the controversial SOPA bill, Jimmy Wales – co-founder of Wikipedia – announced that his company will regardless pull its domains away from the world’s biggest registrar.

“I am proud to announce that the Wikipedia domain names will move away from GoDaddy. Their position on #sopa is unacceptable to us.”

That was said in a tweet on December 23rd.

Jimmy Wales later disclosed that they won’t reverse their decision, stating about GoDaddy: “Their support [of SOPA] was not incidental.”
