Air.com: Stolen domain returned to original owner’s estate

The domain name Air.com, registered in 1994, was apparently stolen in recent years, most likely in 2023.

Its original registrant and sole owner, David L. Kaufman, used the domain at the time for a company in Massachusetts called “Allied International Resources.”

The theft was handled via the US court system, with attorney David Weslow, along with fellow Wiley Rein LLP attorneys Attison Barnes III and Adrienne Kosak representing the estate of the original owner.

After filing a lawsuit on June 20, 2025, the legal team obtained a court order returning the domain on September 26th.

Documents show that Plaintiff’s Motion for Default Judgment was granted in favor of Plaintiff Patricia Garland, acting as representative for the Estate of David L. Kaufman, and against the Defendant AIR.com domain name; the Defendant was not present.

It is not clear if the current landing page of Air.com represents the court’s decision. Air.com is listed for sale via the Brannans brokerage.

Update: It’s unfortunate that Mr. Kaufman has passed away; this ultra-premium domain has been listed for sale by Mr. Kaufman’s estate, at Brannans. Many thanks to David Weslow for the note.
