The FBI shut down 498 #escort domains on #Chinese registrar #AliYun

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has added 498 domain names to its list of seized domains.

Following the guidelines of US laws related to adult content and committing crimes on the Internet, the FBI seized 498 .com domains – all registered with a Chinese domain registrar, AliYun.

The following message appears on these seized domain names:

“This domain has been seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation pursuant to a seizure warrant issued by the United States District Court for the District of Oregon under the authority of 18 USC981(b) as part of coordinated law enforcement action by: The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.”

So what happened?

According to the announcement by the FBI, it was a nationwide sting operation involving illegal Asian brothels:

“The FBI partnered with local law enforcement agencies in more than a dozen cities across the nation to coordinate sting operations targeting the organizations operated by defendants under indictment in Oregon, along with other Asian sex trafficking networks. As part of the takedown operation, the FBI seized the primary website used by one of the organizations,, and about 500 other associated domains, including 25 location-specific sub-sites.

In addition to the arrests, the FBI assisted five victims in Oregon. The FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office victim services programs worked with local non-profits to ensure the victims have access to social, medical and legal services.”
