Generic #domains : Trademark applications for Tails.com, Wanna.com

Registrants of generic domain names have been flocking to the USPTO to register them as marks, ever since SCOTUS decided on the Booking.com case.

We keep track of these applications, and while it takes 3 to 12 months for a trademark to be registered currently, the number of generic domains in the USPTO increases weekly.

This time around we’re looking at the applications of Tails.com and Wanna.com.

Tails.com is a domain registered in 2000, and its trademark application is for a graphic image incorporating the “tails.com” domain name, for a number of classes and products, including “collars and harnesses, bits, leads, muzzles, blankets, articles of clothing and non-edible chews; all for animals.”

Wanna.com, a domain registered in 1999, is looking to trademark WANNA.COM as an “intend to use” application, for sports betting services. The filing clause indicates that the domain was sold to its current registrant.

Taking a look at the domain history of Wanna.com we can see that it changed hands earlier this year. There is no recorded sale for Wanna.com at NameBio.
