Alcatraz domains: Alcatraz.com appears to be under Canadian control

News of Alcatraz being considered for a grand reopening as a prison for hardened criminals was shared by president Donald Trump on Sunday.

Made popular by movies such as “Escape from Alcatraz“, “Point Blank“, and “The Rock“, Alcatraz has been a museum since 1973—a decade after it shut down as a prison. It had been operating since 1934.

It seems that the matching domain, Alcatraz.com, is sitting unused without much content other than a semi-broken Network Solutions “coming soon” lander.

Registered in 1994, Alcatraz.com appears to be in the possession of a Canadian domain investor, with several quality domains—both in .ca and .com—under his control.

Perhaps the US administration would trade some type of tariff lowering to Canada in exchange for this aged, premium, and historic domain name! 🙂

The domains NewAlcatraz.com and OpenAlcatraz.com were registered recently, most likely among other “Alcatraz domains.”
