Alert: 6462.com is a stolen domain name – do not buy!

The domain name 6462.com has been reported as stolen by its owner, Australian domain investor Rod Seeber, who talks about “Babes, Cars and Guitars” from Rod.tv.

As most domain thefts that occurred in 2014, 6462.com was registered at GoDaddy, from where it was unlawfully transferred out yesterday, according to DomainTools.

The thief transferred it out to Chinese domain registrar, Ename, which is notorious for being unresponsive to legitimate owner requests for transfer reversal; Ename often requires police reports translated into Chinese in order to even consider a case.

The WHOIS information at this time:

ICANN bears a lot of responsibility for the huge increase in domain thefts in 2014, as it now requires domain registrars such as GoDaddy to verify email accounts; the mostly Chinese domain thieves send out phishing emails en masse.

If you are approached to buy the domain name 6462.com please note that you will be acquiring stolen goods.

How do we get the attention of ICANN to start reprimanding ename, I wrote an email, just got some automated BS back, this is a somilia of domain pirates. They have been given a green light, and safe haven. This domainer, I have done business with, he is a solid guy, who contributes to the forums, and the industry, really a shame.

  2. DomainGang says:

Tom – If a ‘solid guy’ got fooled and bought the domain in under 24 hours from the thief, then maybe there is a collusion here to launder stolen domains.

ICANN is a bunch of overpaid bureaucrats with little interest in solving key issues such as redefining domain ownership and a process that ties a domain with its owner via a digital title.

I do thank you guys heaps, i have commented here in the past, asking why icann are not acting ? Thanks for kind comments Tom
I have filled out a ‘stop the transfer’ form today and sent it back to godaddy. Are they able to act at their end, someone has told me it actually 60 days for a full transfer?? I am hoping the weight of numbers will act in my favour, it’s obvious the domain is a high risk and a target, i have a copy of an email i sent to abuse@godaddy.com informing them of attempted…

Further comments are that if i went to the local police station and said my domain name has been stolen i would just get a blank stare. Now the question is where is an account rep when something goes wrong? I have only heard from them once on the phone “hey join the discount club’ Which bring the price down to dynadots normal fee, why are overseas clients not offered the two step verification?? My money is good enough when it suits. Wheels are in motion but it’s damn hard to have any faith

Rod – Sending you an email in a few.

Tom – You were referring to the current registrant, or did I misread your post?
