Amazon AWS pulls the plug on controversial platform Parler.com

Parler.com, a controversial social media platform that has attracted conservative and ultra right-wing supporters of Donald Trump, is down.

Amazon has pulled the plug on Parler on its hosting platform, removing it from its AWS cloud services.

During the end of last week, the Parler app was removed from the Google Play store and the Apple app store. Both app hosting platforms announced the removal of the Parler app citing the inability of its operators to control user content inciting activity violating US laws.

Registered in 1998, the domain name Parler.com was last sold on February 6, 2018 for $4,814 dollars on Sedo. Source: NameBio.

The domain Parler.com is registered with DreamHost, but its “ok” status indicates the domain is unlocked, perhaps awaiting a transfer out to a domain registrar that is friendly to fringe content.
