Chinese #domain market report : The year of the top dog

China’s domain market has evolved into a complex market place that often follows guidelines issued by the Chinese government; we call this the “Communist Capitalism” model.

No longer focused on the so-called “Chinese letters” only, domain investors from China have become apt in targeting a variety of domain genres.

The quintessential, core investment vehicles remain: short and numeric domains. The Chinese domain market is far from dead, and it’s expected to rise further in the coming days of the New Year – the year of the dog.

We keep track of short domain names, between 1 to 4 characters, that change hands in China, for the .COM, .NET and .CN TLDs.

In this first Chinese domain market report for 2018, we’re spanning February 1st, 2018 to February 12th. We’ll follow up with the first 30 days of the new year.
