The Chinese domain market exploded in 2015, right after the big stock market crash in China.

In June 2015, several trillion dollars were lost when stocks turned worthless, and China’s investors sought an alternate vessel to secure their investments: domain names.

It seems that some of China’s investors still prefer cold cash, as in the case of a woman traveling from Hong Kong to Guangdong, with a bunch of cash around her waist.

When airport security inspected her, police found 16 piles of cash taped around her waist, totaling $160,000 undeclared dollars, or about 320,000 times the legal limit! 😀

Chinese domain market sales continue to follow an unpredictable curve, and we keep track of short domains, between 2 to 4 characters in length, for the .CN, .COM and .NET TLDs.
