#Comcast launched #SportsTech accelerator on an owned brand #domain

Comcast has launched its SportsTech accelerator program, and the multi-billion conglomerate is doing things right.

When rolling out a new service dependent on the extreme fame of your brand, you extend the brand onto the service.

Behold, the Comcast SportsTech accelerator program, or – if you prefer the full name – Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech.

Comcast is therefore using the domain name ComcastSportsTech.com, which was registered in late 2019.

Comcast SportsTech – operating from ComcastSportsTech.com

What is this new accelerator program anyway?

It’s a program to energize startup innovation while supporting future Olympic gold-medalists. As part of the plan, accepted ventures will gain $50,000 dollars in equity-based funding and will enter the Comcast SportsTech three month accelerator boot camp.

The SportsTech accelerator has seven partners at launch: NBC Sports, Sky Sports, Comcast Ventures, Golf Channel, Nascar, and two U.S. Olympic sports organizations: U.S. Ski and Snowboard and USA Swimming.

Whoah. It’s huge.

We can also point out that Mike Mann‘s Domain Market venture owns the domain SportsTech.com.

Which one is more valuable, the generic or the brand sidekick? When the brand is famous, definitely the latter.
