Crypto.com : New brand name for the Los Angeles arena

Golden rule: Can’t publicly announce a product or service these days without securing the matching .com domain.

As part of 20-year naming rights deal, the Staples Center will be renamed as the “Crypto.com Arena” on December 25th. Crypto.com will be sponsoring the arena.

Since opening its doors in 1999, the iconic arena, located in downtown Los Angeles, has served as the backdrop to some of the most memorable and prolific sports and live entertainment moments and events to have taken place in the last 20 year.

This agreement also makes Crypto.com an official cryptocurrency platform partner of the Los Angeles Lakers and the LA Kings.

Naturally, someone registered the domain CryptocomArena.com and parked it on GoDaddy. Other extensions, such as .org, .net, .biz, and .us are also registered.

Although the default GoDaddy lander is shown, we’re confident that all these domains are safely in the possession of AEG Worldwide, owners of the formerly known “Staples Center.”

Which shows that when a domain’s TLD is incorporated in another domain to form the exact brand .com, things look weird. 😀
