Trademark violations aren’t a laughing matter, but it’s hilarious when it happens before your eyes.
Seasoned domain investor, Mike Mann, was surely jesting when he made the following statement at his Facebook:
“GoogleCorporation.com, you can register this domain right now from godaddy or anywhere for nominal reg fee, like $10.”
Apparently, someone on his friends list took this as a real invitation or recommendation, instead of a tongue-in-cheek quotation.
The end result: someone by the name of “Vicki Grubic” went ahead and registered GoogleCorporation.com minutes later.
Google is known for defending its famous marks vigorously, and this one represents a case that might lead to punitive damages as well.
As for the foolish registrant, they don’t even own their name as a .com!
I heard Mike is that cheap he listed domain with an affiliate link to grab a few cents, even though he’s a millionaire
Mike Mann you are Scrooge McDuck
Guy…I called that making money and that how millionaires make their money.
So I air dry my clothes, use yellow pages as toilet paper , shop at 99 cent store and get free underware at craigslit……I am not scrooge, I am money smart.
BTW, I grow my own veggies and maybe my own trout garden.
BullS – Now that’s novel that one about the yellow pages! And I wasted so much good toilet paper by recycling them!
Did Mike Mann not register NormanShwarzkopf.com? Yes he did.
Joe Par – Are you mad, bro?
