Domain registrations to drop as Euro 2012 kicks off today

It's soccer time!

Euro 2012, the soccer festival of European teams, kicks off today; the starting game between co-host Poland and 2004 champions Greece will be broadcast on ESPN.

Touted as the most popular team sport in the world, soccer – or football as it’s known outside of the US – is a magnet of both male and female attendants, who often drop everything else to watch their favorite team live, or on television.

Thus, it is expected that domain registration activity will drop substantially, as domainers will eat, drink and watch more tv instead of gauging and evaluating domain names, or performing domain blogging.

While the sport of soccer remains unpopular in the US, mostly European fans will don their team colors and enjoy the Euro 2012 football games.

We know however, that American domain investor and soccer fan, Elliot Silver, will have a cold brewski in front of the tv! 😀

Let the Euro 2012 games begin!
