Domainer of the Year for 2014: Rick Schwartz

Domainer of the Year for 2014.

Domainer of the Year for 2014.

With less than an hour left until the calendar rolls into 2015, it’s time to announce the Domainer of the Year for 2014.

Many domain investors, professionals and associates stand out for their contribution; the opportunities to excel are endless, thanks to the expanding structure of the domain industry.

On a daily basis, what really matters is not one’s opinion or course of choice, but how well they remain on-target at the end of the day.

At the same time, domain investing – while not exactly rocket science – requires understanding the intricacies of the industry and of the end-user, visitor or consumer.

Newcomers in the domain industry are often mesmerized by certain “big name” personalities; some are even negatively predisposed by the reference to those who seem to have handled the domain investing game quite well for several years.

With all that in mind, we’d like to honor Rick Schwartz for his contribution to the domain industry, declaring him not only the Domainer of the Year for 2014 but also acknowledge his role in providing more than a decade of active industry gatherings through TRAFFIC.

Rick’s ability to separate diamonds from “pigeon shit” is legendary and his methodology of domain valuation based on one’s life expectancy is a true manifestation of brilliance.

The Domain King has positively affected numerous professionals in the domain industry, directly and indirectly, and we are grateful for his ability to withstand the occasional blast of humorous write-ups for the past five years that DomainGang operates.

Rick’s recent decision to go on an a sabbatical away from domain blogging, should be respected and understood as yet another enlightening lesson from the man who does not sugar-coat his words and thoughts on what constitutes intelligent domain investing.

Thank you, Rick, for being a true sport and a mentor. A very Happy New Year to you, from all of us.
