DomainKing.NG : Public Domain Registry will assist with locked down .com domains

Public Domain Registry

Since early February, India-based registrar, DomainKing.NG, has been causing a lot of frustration to domain registrants using its services.

A month ago, its founders were arrested in Punjab, India, and are being investigated into for a variety of alleged crimes; some, as serious as supporting terrorist activists’ domain registrations.

After weeks of complaints on the DomainKing.NG Facebook page, the Nigerian Internet Registry pulled the plug on the .NG part of the business, redirecting traffic to a landing page.

That left domain registrants of .com, .net and other such domains in limbo, but now the Public Domain Registry has stepped in.

It appears that DomainKing.NG was simply a reseller of domain services for PDR – the latter, is an ICANN-accredited registrar, and as such it possesses the authority and the obligation to resolve issues for its customers.

PDR has been assisting the DomainKing.NG customers transfer out domains, by unlocking and providing the necessary credentials.

Still, DomainKing.NG customers flock to the comments section of the Facebook page, with complaints:

“Dear Domain King, Please how can I get the code and database of my website from you guys? The website design company is charging me so much to develop a new site. PLEASE TREAT AS URGENT”

Meanwhile, the real Domain King®, Rick Schwartz, has been receiving emails from the Nigerian registrar’s customers, that seek support.
