eBay seeks out user support to suppress the ‘Internet tax bill’

eBay transactions will be taxable.

Auction giant eBay sent out an email to its members, seeking their support against the so-called Internet Tax Bill.

As an online shopper, you may be negatively affected by sales tax legislation currently being considered in the U.S. Congress. I want to let you know about the bill and give you a quick, easy way to make sure your voice is heard before the House of Representatives votes. This legislation, which has already been passed by the U.S. Senate, is being called the Marketplace Fairness Act, but I strongly believe it creates an unfair tax burden for small online businesses, a burden that will impact online shoppers. Please help ensure that this bill does not become law – click here to tell Congress this legislation is unfair.

Congress can instead support small businesses by making a simple modification to the current bill: exempt small businesses with less than 50 employees or less than $10 million in out-of-state sales. And you can join the growing number of voices telling our Representatives that they should protect small online businesses and make this simple change. Participation is easy – just click here to send a letter to your Members of Congress.

I also hope you’ll consider coming back to eBay. We’ve made significant improvements in the eBay shopping experience. Take a moment to visit eBay.com or download our mobile app to see for yourself.

Thank you for your support of eBay sellers and small online businesses.

Seems that eBay is pro-actively polling its members, that are bound to leave it in drones, should online transactions be taxed, as expected.
