GoDaddy is telling Afternic to hold tight for the ride.
After its recent acquisition of Afternic for umpteen millions of dollars, GoDaddy – the largest domain registrar in the world – has completed the final stage of its asset acquisition.
Recent WHOIS lookups placed the domain name Afternic.com in the hands of Domain Administration .com LLC, but this has changed.
Apparently, GoDaddy has now completed the transfer of the domain Afternic.com to its own registrar repository, per the WHOIS info at DomainTools.
As of earlier today, Afternic.com appears to be registered with GoDaddy.
GoDaddy’s acquisition of Afternic was received with mixed emotions and even concerns by the domain industry boffins, who were assured that Afternic will continue to operate independently.
